U16 SEASON SUMMARY SO FAR We started of our campaign with a home game against Milltown on the 13th april in Kilconnell and we proved too strong for the visitors and ran out easy winners. The match referee was martin gavin. For our next game we travelled to Annaghdown and a close even match it was too with the visitors winning in the end but the result was somewhat soured by a serious wrist injury to Thomas Hynes who was taken to hospital as a result and we all wish him a steady and strong recovery from this injury. Many thanx to Martina of Annaghdown and parents on the night for their valuable help. Referee was Tom Flaherty for this match. Our next match was also away to Kilconly this time at the Kilbannon GAA pitch and with the drizzly damp weather it took St Gabriels the entire first half to find their feet indeed it took a half time talk by manager Seamus Coughlan to get the lads up and running for the second half, with the score 1-4 to 1-3 in St Gabriels favour at the resumption the players knew what was expected from the management team. And step up to the plate they did restricting the home side to a single point all half and winning the game at a canter with another 3 goals and 5 points.referee for this match was Gerry Keating. Then so to our next match which was at home against our neighbours and great rivals St Kerrills. On the evening we proved too strong and had a convincing win despite missing players. This match was followed by the return game on tuesday 18th may were in atrocious weather conditions the lads lost narrowly by a single point despite never really finding their rythm. At the end the St Kerrills team celebrations told its own story with St Gabriels not performing on the night and with this match now comes a break until june where more academic pursuits will keep them occupied for a while! Junior A Match Summary St Gabriels played annaghdown on sunday 2nd may in kilconnell pitch in their league match. ST Gabriels were the better team in the first half and with the wind in our favour were unfortunate not to have put more scores on the scoreboard by half time. Score at half time st gabriels 4pts to annaghdown 1g 2pts. In the second half annaghdown upped their game took some great points. St Gabriels james dillon scored a goal but time ran out and annaghdown won on a scoreline of st gabriels 1g 6pts to Annaghdown 1g 10pts.
MALONES CHARGES KEEP CHARGING!!!
St Gabriels enjoyed a good win over neighbours Ballinasloe on friday evening, Gabriels enjoyed most of the possession in the first half but were not converting it all to scores, that being said Gabriels were up by seven points at half time. In the first half luke o'connor, jason daly and ja manion were showing well in the forwards with sean collins and declan cronin well on top in midfield. Aaron Duane and Mike O'rourke along with Gavin Daly were rock solid in the full line. The second half started with gabriels scoring the first point, at this stage ballinasloe rallyed and came back and scored a goal. From the kick out gabriels went up the field and after some great work by David Maher gabriels got a goal back straight away, from this point on there was only going to be one winner. The half back line of Darren Kenny, Darragh Coen and Daniel Nevin started to dominate with the result being that very little ball got through to our goals, Ethan Molloy brought off a cracker of a save to go with the one he made in the first half. Gabriels were now moving the ball fast and direct putting ballinasloe under a lot of pressure, with the room created by the fast ball Gary Connelly and Jason Daly linked up well with the other forwards to create scores. With about 10 minutes remaining gabriels emptied their bench and no sooner was this done when the move of the match took place with Dara Collins getting a peach of a goal. All in all it was a good team performance by gabriels and it is great to see Shane Regan getting back into form after a long layoff. The St gabriels team lined out as follows Eathan Molloy, Mike O'Rourke, Gavin Daly, Aarron Duane, Darragh Coen, Daniel Nevin, Darren Kenny, Declan Cronin, Sean Collins (capt), Luke O'Connor, Ja Mannion, Shane Regan, David Maher, Gary Connelly, Jason Daly, Aaron Dunne, Dara Collins, Niall Coen, Pakie Garvey and Colin Lyons.
U14's KEEP IT GOING AWAY IN ANNAGHDOWN The u14 team travelled to annaghdown on friday evening for the third round of the league. Gabriels started slowly and were behind by four points ten minutes into the first half before Ja Mannion scored the first of his goals, this was quickly followed by a well taken goal by Aidan Grenham, at this stage Declan Cronin and Sean Collins started to get on top in the middle of the field while Darren Kenny and Aaron Duane started to come very strong into the game. At half time gabriels were up by two points, Gabriels started the second half very strong with Ja Mannion getting a cracker of a goal. The half back line of Daniel Nevin, Daniel Dunne and Darren Kenny were well on top at this stage which meant more ball going into the gabriels forwards with Pakie Garvey, Luke O'Connor and Niall Coen all getting on the score sheet. St gabriels went on to win by eleven points, a very good performance by all. The st gabriels team lined out as follows. Ethan Molloy, Aaron Duane, Michael O'Rourke, Daniel Dunne, Darren Kenny, Aaron Dunne, Sean Collins, Declan Cronin, David Maher, Shane Regan, Ja Mannion, Luke O'Conor, Gary Connelly, Aidan Grenham, Daniel Nevin, Pakie Garvey Colin Lyons, Niall Coen & Eamon quinn.

Pat Finn's U21 ST GABRIELS squad went up against Dunmore McHales in the u21 Championship on Sunday last 7th of march in a re-arranged fixture that took place on Glenamaddy pitch. On a lovely sunny day that was well suited for free flowing football the two teams were evenly matched against each other in the early stages of the match with Dunmore leading at half time. St Gabriels had been very unlucky not to have scored two goals in the first half with one hitting the cross bar. Half time score was Dunmore 8pts to St Gabriels 1g and 2pts. In the second half McHales got the rub of the green and were lucky to score a goal from a penalty in the first five minutes after having one disallowed just after half time.
